Self love and Self preservation
Hello fellow peace & love seekers! Hope you are all well and safe. This is my second blog and I thought to dedicate it to this picture. I was very much excited and inspired by this picture my sister Amal created (her instagram handle is amal29.jpeg) and kindly requested her to allow me to feature it on my website which she happily did :).
When I look at this picture it reminds me of something and many things. Reminds me to stop, breathe, take stock of my situation and really talk to myself about anything and everything. How often do we do this? Take a moment to pause and really don't force any thoughts but just allow them to come and go in your mind.
There have been many moments recently where I felt like doing this, just drop everything and listen to myself and just allow myself to be, to breathe, to ponder. Have you ever come across a picture where it really awakened your senses and created a spark in you? This picture does that to me (amongst many other pictures).
The peacock in this image signifies to me a bigger being who is watching me, there by my side, protecting me, this could be my god or angels. Who is it for you? It could even be a loved one, your spouse/partner, your siblings, your parents or your friends. How often do we tell them we love them, we are grateful for them and that we are there for them like they are for us?
How often do we ask for help? I for one am conscious of this and try to do this whenever I remember it. Specially at night, whenever I can, I think of 3 things that come to my mind that I am grateful for that day. I try to think of things that bring a joy or spark to me. I try whenever I can to tell people I love them and thank them. Equally I ask for help which is very difficult for me as I like to do things on my own and don't want to burden others. And even more difficult for me which I have started doing is telling people honestly about how I feel and rectify it as much as possible. I cannot explain how soul nourishing this is, you just have to try it.
The yellow circle, the butterflies and the grapefruit signify the universe, planet, nature and the world to me. These are the things we take for granted, like the air, the sea, the mountains, the animals, the trees, the sky, the sun, the moon and stars. The butterflies also signify a moment of change and transformation, a journey that we are all going through right now for example.
We are all in lockdown right now due to covid-19 and missing the travel. I for one am specially never going to take travel and seeing the world for granted again. I feel so lucky to have travelled the world in the past few years, not so many countries as I would have liked and still many more to go. But really cherish the places I have been and grateful that I had a chance to do that. But we can still enjoy nature and the world. How often do we take a moment to look at the sun, the moon and the stars. How often do we allow our bare feet to touch the grass or water on the beach. It is the little things in nature that can also give us immense joy and peace.
There is another reason why I think I was also drawn to this picture. It has embodied all 7 colours of the chakra system and more. It has red of the base chakra, orange of the sacral chakra, yellow of the solar plexus chakra, green of the heart chakra, blue of the throat chakra, dark blue/indigo of the third eye/brow chakra and purple/violet of the crown chakra. It also has black, white, turquoise and brown.
Black is a very powerful colour, it gives strength to the other colours in the spectrum, it is a colour of inner strength, reflection and determination. White is the colour of purity, clarity, perfection and peace. Turquoise helps with the immune system and the throat chakra. Brown is the colour of the Mother Earth, it is symbolic of something being solid, secure and permanent and can be linked to old well known patterns and boundaries.
I hope you enjoyed this blog of mine and it inspired you in some way. Sending lots of positive vibes, colours and sparks, Poonam.
