How colour therapy can help during stressful times

Hi folks, this is my first ever blog and I am very excited to be doing this. Hope you are all well and safe and if you have stumbled upon this blog today then maybe you need this in your life!

Colour therapy healing meditation

Today I want to explain how colour therapy can help anyone no matter whether you are going through something or not. But it can be particularly helpful in those times when you need some peace and comfort. If you have had a look on my website already you will have seen what colour therapy is all about and its scientific and historic background, so I will not go into all that today.

In these times of social distancing and lockdown mode, we cannot easily avail services of a colour therapist but there are ways in which we can do simple exercises which will not be the same as a therapist providing that much needed healing but it will help nevertheless.

One such exercise I want to share with you today, is a colour and chakra breathing exercise. Make sure you are seated or lying down in a comfortable position. Then close your eyes, take some deep breaths and imagine 7 colours passing through your body through inhalation and exhalation as you are breathing as follows:

From the bottom of your feet to your head and out imagine red, orange and yellow flowing through you in that order. Then imagine green surrounding your chest and back in a circular flow. From the top of your head to the bottom of your feet imagine blue, dark blue and purple flowing through you in that order.

As you are breathing in and out and experiencing these colours through you, is there any colour that is particularly jumping at you or was particularly strong. Everyone's imagination is different so you can imagine that colour flow in a liquid, powdery, airy, image or other form. I imagine some colours in an airy form and some in liquid form, the liquid form is particularly strong and I feel that is the colour or chakra that needs the most balance that day.

After doing this exercise imagine yourself in a bubble of white (or any colour that takes your fancy) and say the following affirmation: "I am protecting my energies in this bubble today, this bubble will protect me from any negative energies". By doing this you are protecting your energies and making yourself consciously aware that today you will be the one in charge of your energy and not allow other peoples energies to subconsciously or consciously affect you in a negative way.

You can do this exercise once or twice a day and also whenever you feel nervous, sad, anxious or stressed. As you saw from my website, each colour is associated with a physical and emotional aspect of our chakras. There are 7 chakras in our body and by doing this colour breathing exercise you are acknowledging and healing each chakra in your body for both the physical and emotional aspects.

I hope this helped you today. Stay safe, loved and protected. Lots of love, light and colourful sparks, Poonam.
